Are you a non-Indigenous or Métis resident who is older than 60 and who does not have access to drug coverage from another source?

Yes

You must be registered with the Extended Health Benefits for Seniors Program to have coverage through this plan. If you have already registered, then you are likely eligible for full public coverage of medication benefits provided under the program. The program is administered by Alberta Blue Cross on behalf of the territorial government. It makes decisions about medication coverage on the basis of the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Drug Benefit List developed by Indigenous Services Canada for its client population.

If a medication has been prescribed for you but is not on the benefit list, your prescriber or pharmacist may submit a request to Alberta Blue Cross on your behalf for prior authorization.

If you have not registered, go to this link to register.
