The program has a formulary that specifies which medicines are covered and under what circumstances. The formulary is not available publicly, but it is possible to search an online database to identify if the medication you need is listed. The formulary is restricted to a relatively small number of approved treatments, but if you need a medication that is not listed, your prescriber can submit a written request that includes the specific medical reasons you need this medication even though it is not listed. The written request will be reviewed, and a decision made about whether or not it would be covered for you.
